The Ivy at Verity Toronto, CANADA

Inside, each of its four bedrooms, which have balconies overlooking a romantic nineteenth-century courtyard, have been uniquely and cleverly styled. From vibrant turquoise walls contrasting with white linens to warm gold and woody tones to create a more romantic atmosphere, choose a room to suit your personal style, and take time to relax. The king-sized Hastens beds and Italian linens, are oh-so-comfy, you can watch TV, YouTube and Netflix in bed on the large flat-screen TVs, and enjoy some bubbles in the generously-sized bathtubs.

Quiet, but slap bang in the heart of downtown Toronto. Breakfast is delivered to the informal lounge area, which is also home to the honesty bar; soft drinks, tea and coffee are complimentary, just remember to put money in the pot if you help yourself to a glass of wine or a spirit.

The George Restaurant is right next door to The Ivy at Verity, and offers an inventive tasting menus using local ingredients. And, if you fancy something different, experience gourmet Thai food at Mengrai Thai, 82 Ontario Street; succulent Indian cuisine at Trimurti Curry, 265 Queen Street; and excellent Japanese at Ki Sushi, 181 Bay Street.
