Ever wanted to hold your wedding in a boat? Cutty Sark is one of the most famous ships in the world and is available to hire exclusively for your wedding. Built in 1869 to carry tea back from China, it now sits at the gateway to the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers fantastic views over the Thames and to the city beyond. London riverside weddings don't get any more impressive than this.

Romance of the Sea

Renowned for being the fastest and greatest tea clipper of her time, the 963 ton Cutty Sark is as beautiful as she is iconic. She is also the only place in the world where you can entertain your wedding guests underneath the glimmering hull of a ship. Capture the romance of the sea by hosting your wedding here – a breathtaking unique heritage setting with incredible photo opportunities.

The Spaces

Cutty Sark is available for exclusive use hire and offers you three spaces for your wedding:

Dry Berth – suspended in her dock, the dry berth of Cutty Sark creates a jaw-dropping space for entertaining your wedding guests beneath her shining copper hull. This incredible space can host up to 300 guests for ceremonies and receptions.

The ’Tween Deck – originally designed and used for storing cargo, the ‘Tween Deck has hosted everything from tea and whisky to wool and buffalo horns; say your vows in front of up to 70 guests surrounded by the original teak planks and iron frames that sailed the China Seas more than a century ago.

The Weather Deck – featuring three towering masts and mile upon mile of overhead rigging, The Weather Deck is a dramatic spot for reception drinks and photographs; it also overlooks the Thames and the city beyond.

Wedding Planning Support

Cutty Sark is a dry hire venue, but hire includes dedicated support from the operations manager and venue staff, a PA system and stunning architectural in-house lighting. What’s more, staff at Cutty Sark can put you in touch with some exceptional caterers, florists, entertainers and more, to help you create an incredible wedding day.

“We are very collaborative and want to make sure everyone feels that they are special and are bespoke in their needs for an amazing day to remember. For most, their wedding is a once in a life time event and they want to be in an amazing place and have an amazing time and our location offers that.” Hayley, Royal Museums Greenwich
