MARRY IN AN ELIZABETHAN MANSION
The Mansion at Wakehurst is a truly ‘lived in’ Elizabethan mansion that offers a rare glimpse of life gone by, a picture that can be recreated by offering an intimate and flexible option for every wedding, whether it be holding your civil ceremony or partnership or simply your wedding breakfast.
The Dining Room, unique to Wakehurst with its oak panelled walls and Monk’s fireplace also benefits from glorious afternoon daylight that streams through three windows that each face east, west and southerly over the Mansion and Croquet lawns. Whilst able to accommodate 60 for a ceremony, the adjacent larger Gallery holds 80 for ceremonies and the Mansion Lawn is host to the most romantic of outdoor ceremonies for up to 140 guests.
Couples looking for a contemporary feel to their wedding can choose the striking glasshouse of The Millennium Seed Bank, suitable for standing drinks receptions or evening parties. Set against a plethora of tropical succulents and grasses, cool dark granite and glass and on top of one of the world’s most globally diverse hotspots – an underground vault housing the world’s largest seed collection, it is a truly unique wedding venue that also has its own outdoor reception area with water and plant life filled parterres, a talking point if ever there was one.
If you had always dreamt of a marquee on the lawn but didn’t have a garden big enough, a marquee at Wakehurst provides you with the opportunity to make a bespoke dream wedding in either a traditional marquee setting or perhaps one of the more popular options of the day – a tipi!
