High Spirits - Frédérique

Frédérique Cooke works with Olga Tomic and they form an inspirational team under the name of 'High Spirits” (website: highspirits.today), offering creative ceremonies to suit every situation and every person. They are both people-orientated and have collective extensive experience and wisdom about life and love, and they share the same values, the key being human love and kindness and a desire for sharing and spreading happiness wherever they can.

Individually they complement each other’s skills and ideas to create the best ceremony for any occasion with the couple at the centre of the process. They delight in both the journey of creating a ceremony and leading it on the Big Day with genuine interest and joy. Frédérique has had a long-standing career as a University Lecturer, Tai Chi Teacher and Feng Shui Consultant and Trainer. She brings a wealth of experience in working with people and facilitating creative engagement. Olga has been in social work for over 40 years and this has been her substantive career, but she has always followed a path of enlightenment through various wisdom's including Feng Shui, where she finally met Frédérique and they joined to form a practice. Together Frédérique and Olga have shared a parallel journey and know that for them, providing a celebrancy service is a natural move down another pathway, but always with the purpose to be of service to others.

We, at High Spirits, believe that a wedding  ceremony should be totally unique and personal to the couple, their family and friends.

We design the whole ceremony with the couple's input and their approval of the script prior to the day. There are no rules, no prescribed words to say. The couple choose the location for their wedding, they include any other person(s) they want, and what role (if any) they will play during the ceremony. They can have any singing, dancing, music they like… They choose the style of the ceremony, from traditional to entirely personal: there is a whole range of beautiful symbolic rituals for example: Ring warming, Unity Candles, Rose ceremony , Sand ceremony, Hand Fasting, Jumping the broom… or anything else! Our aim is to celebrate your union and your commitment to each other exactly as you want, in a joyful and relaxed manner.

We feel that in our society, celebrations and rituals too often take second place, and  also too often follow a prescribed pattern. To us, a meaningful celebration has to be personal and unique; it should express our tastes, style, creativity and personality. We love creating such ceremonies, and leading them with much enthusiasm.

We delight in getting to know you, the couple, and setting out with you on a shared creative adventure, underpinned by love and respect. In our work, we hold you at the centre of this journey and support you through the process until your very special day. It is their honour and pleasure to make your day as wonderful as it can be.

Normally, we meet the couple two to four times, face to face if possible or via online calls.

We correspond with the couple by email etc.. until the final draft of the ceremony and all other details are approved. We contact all those involved in the ceremony (if any) for their contribution (texts, readings etc..) and include those in the final draft and schedule of the event. We organise any ritual chosen, and if appropriate, provide the materials needed. We liaise with other professionals (photographers, musicians etc.) as needed. We conduct the ceremony. We provide a certificate, and a written copy of the ceremony.
