What Makes Us Unique
In a nutshell
We pride ourselves on distinctive design and fastidious ethical standards. Behind our made-to-order jewels is Arabel Lebrusan, who carries many prestigious accolades under her belt, including the crown for the National Association of Jewellers' 2022 Jewellery Designer of the Year. A multifaceted visual artist and key pioneer of the ethical jewellery movement fuelled by over 15 years of experience and a variety of cultural, historical and aesthetic inspirations - including her Spanish roots - her style is striking and defined by ornate forms, organic motifs and intricate hand-engraving. It's our priority to use jewellery as an active force for good, working hard to minimise our carbon footprint and maximise our positive socioeconomic impact in all that we do.
Our jewels are crafted using exclusively responsible materials, with recycled gold and reclaimed gemstones and diamonds available for the environmentally-conscious and traceable Fairtrade Gold, Fairmined Ecological Gold, fair-traded gemstones and artisanal Ocean Diamonds offered to those who wish to champion transparent supply chains and artisanal miners. To minimise our jewellery's mileage and uphold local cultural heritage, 100% of our jewellery is manufactured right here in the UK, primarily by craftspeople in small family-run workshops in London's famed Hatton Garden. For every piece of jewellery sold we plant 10 trees in Colombia's Choco region - a rainforest area largely decimated by the mining industry. We also commit to donating a fixed quarterly sum to the Water Project, and have done for the past decade. Why do you want to work with LGBTQ+ couples?
In a country where AT LEAST over 2 million adults openly identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual alone, to not consider LGBTQ+ people in love when designing and marketing our jewellery would be absurd. Just this year, our hometown of Brighton was officially entitled the UK's queer capital, with one in 10 people over the age of 16 openly identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual or of another sexual orientation. These people are us, our neighbours, our colleagues, friends, and family members. Of course our door is open. We are aware that the wedding industry remains largely an old-fashioned one, steeped in traditions and terminology that continue to perpetuate archaic ideals of sexuality and gender. Unfortunately, this can cause many to feel underrepresented or, in some cases, downright excluded. We believe that love belongs to everybody, so we take an active stance in welcoming any LGBTQ+ person with open arms.
What is your creative approach to weddings?
We are a tight-knit team of social individuals who thrive on getting to know people, priding ourselves on our ability to realise our clients' visions. This is about REALLY listening; observing the people sat in front of us, acknowledging the nuances of their body language and visual style, and understanding deeply what their engagement ring, wedding band or commitment ring will mean to them. Jewellery tells stories, and being a good wedding jeweller means recognising the story that each client wants to tell - then helping them to do so. Never restricted by a one-size-fits-all mentality, we take an adaptable and intuitive approach to customer service and designing, which is pretty easy on account of our jewels being made to order. With small tweaks easily made to any collection design, we invite our clients not only to put a visual stamp on their piece, but to remain true to their budget, not alienated by a fixed price. Underpinning this organic tack is our fundamental passion for timeless heirloom jewels that can be passed down from one generation to the next, crafted exquisitely using traditional techniques, time-honoured tools and resilient fine materials.
What do you love about what you do?
Ultimately, the fire that fuels us is knowing that the jewellery we create has a tangible positive impact on people's lives. When our office phone pings to let us know that a glowing Google testimonial has been received, or a selection of wedding photos emailed through, or a message has landed from a previous engagement ring client telling us that their partner said "Yes!" and they're ready to begin thinking about wedding bands, the buzz is indescribable. Many of these people we know on first name bases, having met them in person a number of times, seeing them in their most candid forms - racked with nerves ahead of a proposal, or glowing with elation on the other side of the question, hyper in the fast-paced run-up to their wedding day, or deep in thought as they hand over a piece of jewellery inherited from a loved one that they'd like to instil with a new lease of life. We are invited, repeatedly, to play a small part in some of the most important moments of people's lives. We see that as the utmost privilege.
What is included in the wedding package?
We offer free consultations at the historic London Diamond Bourse or at our Brighton headquarters. These one-to-one appointments are an opportunity to try on our sample wedding bands, discuss bespoke ideas with a member of the Design Team, ask questions, and get measured up for size. For those who are unable to visit us in person, we offer these consultations via Zoom, and can send a selection of sample wedding bands and an at-home ring sizer in the post. For those who need their wedding bands in a hurry, we're more than happy to loan a pair of sample rings to exchange on The Day whilst the real things are being created. Throughout the manufacturing process we keep our clients closely informed, offering them behind-the-scenes insights and even a photo or two if requested. On completion, each Lebrusan Studio jewel is delivered in a branded and recyclable Lebrusan Studio box, accompanied by a signed unique certificate of provenance which details the authenticity of its materials and its unique journey into fruition. For those who wish to be united with their wedding bands in person, we offer 'grand reveal' appointments in London and Brighton. Alternatively, tracked, insured and speedy Royal Mail Special Delivery is included for free with all wedding bands. We also offer one free resize within the first year of purchase.
What forms of payment do you take?
For all engagement rings, wedding bands and commitment rings from our collection, 100% upfront payment is required. For bespoke commissions, we request a 50% upfront deposit to enable us to begin manufacturing, then payment of the remaining balance on completion of the jewel.
