What Makes Us Unique

In a nutshell

Calthwaite Hall is a Grade 2 listed gothic mansion once home to the nephew of Queen Victoria. With a one of a kind spiral staircase and gardens designed by William Gilpin. Now owned by Tony and Paul who have been together for 41 years, they have lovingly restored this magnificent house to its former glory, bringing modern luxury and enhancing the original charm. Expansion over the last 10 years has included the addition of luxury lodges and pods to house up to 60 guests.  A bespoke Orangery provides the perfect blank canvas for celebrations, allowing elaborate decorations to be showcased and the extensive themed gardens with woodlands and follies provide beautiful backdrops for ceremonies and photographs.  The local pub and restaurant is part of this unique village estate, providing a cosy, warm welcome for you and your family.

Catering

Our bespoke Orangery includes a full catering kitchen. As we are a venue that encourages individuality we do not demand that our catering services are used and actively encourage the use of some of our talented local partners. Unique food trucks and street style food for a more informal gathering, or a full silver service banquet for those who enjoy the royal treatment, we can help to source and work with suppliers to find the perfect match.

Exclusivity

Our venue is exclusive use only and or quoted venue hire price includes this as standard. We do not hold any other events on the day of your celebration or indeed on the weekend of your celebration, this allows our team to be fully dedicated to you and your guests in both the run-up to your event and the days afterwards.

Accommodation

We have accommodation for up to 60 guests across a variety of accommodation styles from 4 berth lodges, cottages and apartments to 2 berth pods and Bed and Breakfast Rooms or Four poster rooms. Some accommodation comes with private hot tubs or in summer months a shared outdoor swimming pool. Prices vary depending upon the time of year and number of nights required.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation between six calendar months and three calendar months of the event = 50% of the total event invoice (including the deposit).
  • Cancellation between three calendar months and one calendar month = 75% of the event invoice (including the deposit).
  • Cancellation less than one calendar month prior to the event = 100% of the event invoice (including the deposit).

What is Included?

Included in our price is Venue Hire, which includes use of our bespoke Orangery, 100 Chiaviari Chairs and a selection of round and rectangular tables. A full bar set up and bar staff are included. Our dedicated wedding team will also be available to help in advance of the day with securing suppliers and on the day to assist with any issues that may arise as well as ensuring the safety of all guests.
