City Wall Tower

You marry inside a surviving piece of Canterbury's medieval city wall. Zoar Chapel stands on the foundations of a 14th century bastion tower. It later held the city's water supply, then became a Baptist chapel in 1845. Today it's a licensed wedding chapel, Grade II listed, with no religious content and open to everyone. We host civil marriages and civil partnerships and every couple is welcome.

We don't offer catering. There's no food on site and no set menus. You choose where to celebrate. The John is a two minute walk away and will open exclusively for your guests before or after the ceremony. The Cathedral, the river and some of Canterbury's best places to eat are a short stroll from the door.

One wedding a day. There's no ceremony before yours and none after, so the chapel is yours from the moment you arrive. You can come in up to three hours before the ceremony. The hire is for the day only, so there's no access the day before or after.

There's no accommodation on site. The chapel is in the city centre, so Canterbury's hotels and guesthouses are within walking distance. Guests arriving by car can use Quenningate car park, a four minute walk away. Drop off is outside the door.

A 50% deposit holds your date and is non-refundable. The balance is due 30 days before the ceremony. If your plans change, you can move your date as many times as you need at no extra charge.

• Seating for up to 60 guests, or 80 with some standing
• A table and chairs for the couple, bench seating for your guests, a light up LOVE sign
• Air conditioning that heats and cools, plus Wi-Fi and livestreaming if you want it

• Children, babies and dogs are all welcome
