Houchins

Dating back to the 16th century, Houchins is a grade 2* listed farmhouse and barn wedding venue in the Essex countryside that can host intimate weddings of 25 guests, to larger celebrations of 150 guests or more.

Versatile SpacesThe venue features a number of 1950s farm buildings that have been beautifully reworked to host weddings of every shape and size. The Foundry - able to host indoor wedding ceremonies before being transformed into a nightclub for the evening reception. The Chitting Shed - ideal for drinks receptions and directly connected to The Foundry, the Chitting Shed is a single storey zinc and cedar shingle shed with large glass double doors that open out onto a west-facing terrace and the gardens. The Grainstore - cleverly reclaimed as a dining area that can seat up to 150 people, the Grainstore features 35ft high ceilings, a mezzanine gallery and a grand fireplace. Loggia and Wedding Garden - sitting in front of the terrace, the Loggia is available for sheltered, outdoor weddings from May -September. Guests can be seated in a connecting marquee.

At Houchins, we know how important it is to have a caterer that you feel completely comfortable with. Therefore we have carefully pre-selected three excellent local caterers all with slightly different styles. We ask you to use one of our preferred caterers for all events at Houchins.

Houchins is an exclusive use venue. You have the venue and grounds for the duraiton of your wedding. Acces is from 10am to the venue and 10.30am to the dressing room or if you hire the house the night before you can set up the venue the day before and start getting ready whenever you like!

Located right next to the wedding barn are the luxurious, listed farmhouse and the honeymoon lodge - both beautiful buildings that have been lovingly reworked to accommodate up to 16 guests in the luxuriously furnished farmhouse.
