Our Unique Story

The Lowdown

The Proposal

Kyle always planned to propose to me when we went to work in Lapland together on Christmas day, because it was on Christmas day that he first told me he loved me; unfortunately we couldn't go.

Kyle got a little bit nervous with the pressure and wanted it to be a mutual decision, but I wasn't having any of it! In the end, we went and chose the rings together and then Kyle took me to a really special spot which over looked where he grew up, and he popped the question. Even though it wasn't a surprise I still cried my eyes out!

The Planning

We both have quite traditional families and felt no need to cover the venue in glitter and rainbow flags. We wanted a beautiful country wedding which used all the important traditions of a wedding but with our very subtle twists here and there.

"Our wedding was themed around Stags. This is because, after working away from home in Essex together for a couple of years, Kyle accepted a Job in Devon where I grew up so that he could bring me home. When I was away I realised my love for the country and wildlife in particular, stags.
So the stag theme celebrated Kyle bringing me home to my roots and my family as well as stags representing courage, strength and loyalty because of their nature. As soon as we drove onto St Audries Park for our initial meeting we saw a large bronze stag statue and they had their own herd of them so we knew it was going to be perfect straight away. It also accommodated the 100 guests that we invited, not only to the daytime and reception but we also needed lots of room to stay over as guests travelled from all over the UK.

The (Actual) Wedding

The day itself couldn't have been more perfect. We woke up to a slightly cloudy day but an hour before the ceremony the sun burst through and stayed for the rest of the day.

"I personally didn't feel to nervous on the day because the whole thing felt so right but we were both very emotional.
The ceremony itself was the best moment of my life and the feeling you get from saying your vows is like no other.
"The majority of our guests were entertainers or a little bit mad so the evening reception was always bound to be legendary when putting all those people in one place!
"Our wedding breakfast was cooked incredibly. We wanted to go slightly different from the average melon starter and chicken main so we went for the options of seafood fish cakes or spinach roulade, followed by stuffed mushrooms or lamb shank and strawberry panna cotta to finish.
The breakfast was made even more special with the phenomenal venue decor from Debonair Venue Stylingwho used large white stag heads, thistle and white roses for the centre pieces.
Our wedding cake was made by a lovely lady who my nan met in her local market. She had never made a wedding cake before but my nan was adamant that she would do a wonderful job and she did! She put two stags on the top of the cake and placed tiny little music notes, glass slippers and chihuahuas on the cake as a surprise for us. The whole thing was finished off by using the same cake knife that was used at my great great grandmothers wedding and we have frozen the two sugar stag heads as well as a spare one ready for when we celebrate our first child together.
"Our day was perfect for us and our guests and we couldn't have asked for a better wedding experience.
">The whole day was not about creating a spectacle or being over the top. It was simply about celebrating our love for each other and our incredible families.
